Thousands of inventions and innovations awarded at the Lépine Competition for 122 years
The Concours Lépine is an institution founded in 1901 by police prefect Louis Lépine. At the time, his wish was to create a space to offer visibility to small French toy manufacturers wishing to meet their public and find stable financing. The following year, the Lépine Competition specialised in Invention, Innovation and Creation, becoming the Competition-Exhibition that it is today.
Since then, the Lépine Competition has continued its main missions: to support French inventors and creators and to honour invention, innovation and creation.
A true reference in the world of invention for more than a century, the Lépine Competition has remained a springboard and a mark of excellence for French industry. Since its creation, thousands of inventions, from the most extraordinary to the most astonishing, have seen the light of day and taken shape in the corridors of its Competition Exhibitions.
These include the biros invented at the beginning of the 20th century; the steam iron; the potato masher, which has become a flagship product of the Moulinex company; the electric wheelchair from Dupont Médical; the indispensable Aspivenin, the lifting step from the Manuvit company, a leader in the handling of different loads; and the automatic bread dispenser, to enjoy a freshly baked baguette at any time of day.
